Both Japan and Korea's governments have expressed their dismay at the problems which have led to delays in fans receiving their tickets, chaos in the online sales operation and empty seats. The sale of tickets remains a major talking point in both Japan and Korea. The distribution centre in Tokyo saw a steady stream of people coming to try to pick-up tickets. In an attempt to alleviate the problem the Japan World Cup Organising Committee (JAWOC) has decided to split the remaining first round tickets 50-50 with FIFA. JAWOC's will accept ticket reservations by phone, while FIFA will sell tickets online. But many of those still trying to get hold of seats remain skeptical that selling by phone will make any difference. On Thursday JAWOC Tournament Director Jungi Ogura tried to play down the problems. He also explained security issues were the reason why fans were unable to buy tickets over the counter.
